MID TN EXCAVATOR
Demolition Contractor in Middle Tennessee
Safe and efficient removal of structures, foundations, and materials to clear the way for new construction across Humphreys, Dickson, Hickman, Perry, Maury, Montgomery, and Davidson counties.
JD Lee Excavating handles demolition for residential and commercial properties across Middle Tennessee — from single structures on raw land to full site clearing ahead of new development.
Demolition done right isn’t just knocking something down. It’s removing what’s there cleanly, disposing of it properly, and leaving the site in a condition that doesn’t create problems for the construction that follows. We bring the equipment to do it efficiently and the experience to do it without damaging what stays.
COMMERCIAL DEMO
Commercial demolition requires coordination that residential teardowns don’t — utility disconnections confirmed before work begins, hazardous material assessments completed, debris hauled and disposed of to code, and a site left clean enough for the next trade to move in on schedule. We work from demolition plans, coordinate with general contractors and site engineers, and handle the excavation and grading that follows the teardown so the site transitions cleanly from demo to construction without a gap between contractors. Large commercial structures, foundation removals, and full site clearing ahead of development are handled with the fleet and crew capacity to move the work efficiently.
RESIDENTIAL DEMO
Residential demolition on a raw land site often means removing an old structure, a barn, a shed, or a foundation before new construction can begin. We tear down, remove, and haul off what needs to go — and we do it without leaving buried debris, broken concrete, or old foundation material that creates problems for grading and site prep that follows. If the demolition is part of a larger site project, we coordinate it as the first phase so the rest of the work moves forward on a clean, unobstructed site.
What Demo Work Involves
Demolition is more than the teardown — what happens before and after the structure comes down matters just as much.
- Utility disconnections confirmed before any work begins
- Hazardous material identification completed prior to demolition
- Structure taken down safely and methodically
- Debris sorted, loaded, and hauled from the site
- Concrete foundations broken up and removed
- Underground elements including footings and slabs excavated and cleared
- Backfill placed and compacted where foundations are removed
- Site graded to a clean, level condition ready for the next phase
Why Clean Demo Sets Up Everything That Follows
A demolition site that isn’t properly cleared creates problems that compound through every phase that comes after it. Buried concrete from a broken foundation settles unevenly under fill. Old footings left in the ground interfere with grading and drainage. Debris pushed into low spots and covered over becomes a drainage problem and a soft spot in the subgrade. None of it shows up on the surface right away — it shows up later, after the new structure is in and the fix requires tearing everything back out.
We clear demo sites completely. That means foundations come out, not just down. Buried material gets excavated, not covered. The site gets graded to a condition that’s actually ready for what comes next — not one that looks ready from the road. If demolition is the first phase of a larger project, the way it gets done determines how every phase after it performs.

WHY JD LEE EXCAVATING
Unlike most small, one-man operations, JD Lee Excavating runs a full fleet of heavy equipment — giving us the capacity to handle large-scale residential and commercial projects without delay, without rental dependency, and without sending the wrong machine to the wrong job.
Our fleet includes bulldozers with rippers, excavators with heavy-duty bucket attachments, pans and scrapers, haul trucks, low boys, and dump trucks. For compaction work — particularly on building pads and pond construction — we run both a padfoot compactor and a smooth drum roller, equipment that most local operators simply don’t own. We also run a GPS-based grade control system for precision earthwork on projects where tolerances matter.
We’re capable and agile enough to turn around smaller, local jobs quickly. But what sets JD Lee apart in the Middle Tennessee market is the depth of iron behind every project — owned, maintained, and ready to work.
